As previously stated, I am bringing back TG* TV, a series on Instagram’s IGTV (for video >1 min) where I put a verse to a song I enjoy. When I started this series at the beginning of the coronavirus shutdown I didn’t have a theme and had just started writing for Twentywanting. It evolved into a way to vent about current events and practice performance. Memorizing and recording a verse in front of a camera gave me material to self-analyze and study. The idea of a recurring series kept my self-questionnaire writing prompt for Twentywanting intact. It also kept me from becoming consumed by the constant stressor that was 2020.
So with a new season comes a new mission. My focus is on doing production work for others and building a network of passionate people. With that in mind, I do still write and I want to continue working at that craft. For season 2, I came up with a theme- collaboration, particularly for a full project. Whether the collab occurs with a duo/group, producer and artist, or two (or more) artists, I want to feed off that cohesive energy. For this season’s first installment, I chose “Walking in the Snow” by Run The Jewels, a standout record on an album that should serve as a time capsule for 2020. How appropriate that I posted this as a blizzard hit the Northeast.
